Enhancing Metrics in DataBrain: Join, Filter, Sort, Group By

Enhance and refine your metrics using various functionalities available.

Join:

  1. Activation:
    • Select your desired table and drag and drop a dimension or metric.
    • The "Join" icon becomes active.
  2. Initiate Join:
    • Click on the "Join" icon, located at the top right of the chart area.
    • Choose "+ Add Join".
  3. Set Join Rule:
    • Construct the join clause by picking two tables.
    • Connect columns using the "ON" clause.
  4. Finalize:
    • Click "Apply Join".

Filter:

  1. Access Filter:
    • Click the "Filter" icon at the top right of the chart area.
    • Select "+ Add Filter".
  2. Filter Types:
    • Simple Filter: Choose a column, define a condition, input a value, and click "Apply Filter".
    • Complex Filter: Craft your own SQL filter query and integrate it into your SQL code.
    • Client Filter: Pick a column (typically housing client ID). This should align with the tenancy set during the data warehouse connection. Click "Apply Filter".

Sort:

  1. Access Sort:
    • Click the "Sort" icon at the top right of the chart area.
    • Select "+ Add Sort".
  2. Configure Sorting:
    • From the list, choose the column you'd like to sort by.
    • Decide on the sorting order (ascending or descending).
    • Click "Apply Sort" to arrange your data accordingly.


Group By:

  1. Initiate Grouping:
    • For columns you don't want to directly visualize in the "table view", use the "Group By" functionality.
    • Click the "Group By" icon at the top right of the chart area.
  2. Select Columns:
    • Choose the columns you intend to group by.


Leveraging these functionalities ensures a tailored and insightful view of your data in DataBrain.
